The preparation, assembly and dynamic properties of photoswitchable bisphosphine ligands based on the stiff-stilbene scaffold are reported. Directional bonding and coordination-induced assembly allow complexation of these ligands with palladium(II), resulting in the formation of discrete metallo-supramolecular entities.
