Family Court Orders Psychiatric Assessments Mental examinations are often set off by the behaviour of parents or in cases where abuse is suspected. If there is extreme conflict in between moms and dads or a kid is being 'alienated', the evaluator will suggest family therapy and/or parenting courses. You can request the Court to designate a certified Psychologist or be allowed to arrange one yourself. However, it's worth checking a Psychologist is HCPC
