Heterocapsa circularisquama RNA virus (HcRNAV) is the only dinoflagellate-infecting RNA virus that has been isolated to date. We herein investigated the diversity of the major capsid protein gene of HcRNAV and related viruses using degenerate PCR and in silico ana-lyses.
