Cryptococcus capsules were observed in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid ink stain. Histopathological examination of a percutaneous lung biopsy from the left lower lobe further revealed granulomatous inflammation, and periodic acid-Schiff staining showed red-colored yeast walls, signifying pulmonary cryptococcosis.
