Vision is essential for vertebrates including humans. Sustained vision is accomplished by retinoid metabolism, the "visual cycle," where all-trans retinol (atROL) is incorporated into the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) from photoreceptors presumably through decade-long missing receptor(s).
