Cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) is an enzyme involved in sulfur metabolism that catalyzes the pyridoxal phosphate-dependent condensation of homocysteine with serine or cysteine to form cystathionine and water or hydrogen sulfide (H2S), respectively.
