We explored the functions and mechanisms of N-myc downstream-regulated gene 4 (NDRG4) in an amyloid beta 1-40 induced Alzheimer's disease cell model. The levels of total and phosphorylated Tau protein were significantly up-regulated and cell activity was decreased with increasing Aβ1-40 treatment in SH-SY5Y cells. The expression of NDRG4 mRNA and protein levels were significantly decreased that induced by Aβ1-40 in these cells.
