At the height of its success, it employed greater than 600 folks, and was one of many largest employers in region. At one stage, its Youghal and Carrigtwohill crops labored 24/7 churning out carpets, with native clergymen opting to have fun mass for the workforce contained in the vegetation themselves. Youghal Carpets, which opened in 1969, manufactured raw materials for carpet makers and exported mainly to European and US markets.
