Biohybrid odorant sensors that directly integrate a biological olfactory system have been increasingly studied and are suggested to be the next generation of ultrasensitive sensors by taking advantage of the sensitivity and selectivity of living organisms. In this review, we provide a detailed description of the recent developments of biohybrid odorant sensors, especially considering the requisites for their perspective of on-site applications.
