The main causes of mortality in patients with acute leukemia are the infectious complications. The author wanted to know the induction-related mortality and treatment-related mortality in the acute leukemia patients at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia (INCan), Mexico. Also the author is interested in finding out the micro-organism and the main site of infection to make some changes in the management of patients in these clinics.
