Using the electrostatic charge concept, powder coating involves applying dry paint in the form of a powder to a surface. Thermoplastic or thermoses polymers can both be found in powder. It is typically employed to produce a hard finish that is more durable than regular paint. The paint is heated-cured after application to enable it to flow and form a "skin."

Before applying the finish, the chosen part must be cleaned mechanically or chemically to get rid of oxidation, grime, and existing finishes. Due to contaminants and poor adhesion between the powder and the metal basis, improper surface preparation causes problems with powder coating.

Depending on the size, material, cleanliness, etc., Noble Metal Coating uses a variety of cleaning techniques for powder coat preparation. We have cleaning techniques for any metal at our disposal because we complete so many metal treatments in-house. For ferrous or iron-based objects, our primary approach uses a phosphate coating followed by a short oven dry, or for aluminium, it uses an etching, degreasing, and chromate conversion process.

The polymer paint powder is applied throughout the application procedure using an air-powered pistol. A positive electric charge is applied to the powder as it leaves the gun, while a negative charge is applied to the grounded section. Because the dissimilar charges are attracted to one another, the powder flows and "sticks" to the grounded surface. Powder prefers to adhere to the grounded area as much as possible, unlike conventional paint, which can overspray and create waste and a mess. Waste is significantly reduced as a result of this.
