Fungi have a unique way of dispersing their spores. Some fungi, called bird's nest fungi, are shaped like cups and they depend on rainwater to scatter their spores. One such fungus, the fluted bird's nest (Cyathus striatus), is found in our area on well-rotted wood and mulched garden beds.
